Burnt drawings is a new serie of drawings made with a felt pen and a blowtorch.
I haven't been working in a studio since a long time, Burnt drawings serie made me try again how it felt to work between four walls. The drawings have been made in a back and forth walking method from outside and inside the studio to burn the papers.
I don't precisely know what they represent, surely at least first works after a psychosis.
The show Burnt drawings has been presented at Galleria Loisti in Helsinki from 17 to 31.1.2025. Here's the text of the show:
Burnt drawings is the first series of work that I realised after my psychosis crisis and my stay of three weeks in Aurora’s mental hospital. So it has been a long time that I couldn’t use my studio and try to create something new. The creation of this series hasn’t been easy. I was still suffering of my childhood traumas while doing it, and still going through a slow recovery process. I can say that these works are born from a personal fight against my own nightmares. The creative process has been made in a back and forth ongoing between the studio and the outside, while alternately drawing and burning the works. I’m studying through this series the possibility to draw in a sculptural way. By using different rusted objects as stencils, I try to stretch the two dimensional drawings towards more haptic realities.
